Ceramic tiles are made by mixing naturally forming clays, or sometimes glass or stone, with sand and water.  The mixture is then molded into a shape, glazed or left natural, and finally baked in a kiln.  The glazing process makes the ceramic tile highly stain and water resistance as well as creating a unique appearance.
